
About Awei
Awei is a lifelong California waterman with Pacific Islander roots dedicated to connecting communities with the natural world.
His aquatic experience includes scuba instruction, guiding & dive mastering in places like Socorro Islands; Guadalupe Is., Taiwan, and Vancouver Island. He’s also a rescue swimmer and swims competitively. As a rescuer with EMS experience he also teaches emergency medicine at local colleges. Awei has worked on coastal habitat restoration - his conservation work extends from the Channel Islands northward to Mendocino County.
As both student & educator, Awei combines elements of outdoor recreation, scientific knowledge, and the spiritual ecology of nativity in an ever-evolving pursuit of coexisting with the land and our relatives (human & otherwise).
